Not So Big House
Once again, Insulspan is teaming up with
Sarah Susanka and Building Media to bring you the Not So Big Show
House in Orlando, Florida. The home was built in conjunction with
the International Builders Show, January 13 – 16, 2005, the
world’s premiere home construction trade show, and will showcase
the latest in energy-saving and sustainable building products.
Known for her message to “design
better not bigger,” Susanka has expanded her views to include
a more sustainable approach to home design and construction in her
2005 Showhouse. In designing and constructing the home, Susanka
and the Bradford Building Corporation, a family-owned company, will
apply some of the principles outlined in the Sustainable Building
Industry Council's (SBIC) Green Building Guidelines: Meeting the
Demand for Low-Energy, Resource-Efficient Homes. Using a systems
approach, the Showhouse will feature innovative techniques and technologies
and tried and true applications, including an efficient envelope
made of Insulspan SIPs.

The house will feature other complimentary
products and systems that create a comfortable, energy-efficient,
and healthful home. Visitors will be introduced to these products
and systems in an enlightening multimedia tour that mixes hosted
audio tours by Sarah (design), Steve Easley(building technology),
and The GREEN BUILDER™ Ron Jones (green features). The Showhouse
tour details the shift in the attitudes of today’s home buyers
and will help builders understand and respond to their customers’
demand for homes that are beautiful, comfortable and environmentally
responsive.
